Term 1 Reflection 2014

Term 1 Reflection 2014

My highlights this term would have to be...
making new friends and being in a Fia Fia group called ‘Precisely That’.

I have made improvements/progress in…….
In using different strategies in math

I know this because….
I’m better at math

I still need to work hard to improve my…
writing

I know this because…
I’m not really good at this subject. I need to use more complex vocab in my writing.

I am most proud of my efforts in writing but I still need to get better at it.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be...
1. Getting better at writing
2. Reading more often
3. To be focussed in class and complete work on time

coromandel

Last weekend my family and my uncle from Wales in the United Kingdom  went on a trip to the coromandel. When I woke up I didn’t really want to go because I wanted to say home and play minecraft but my dad told me it was a family outing so I had to go. I tried to take my time getting my togs ready but I had one hour to get ready.Once we had all your things together we left the house and got some drinks.

Then we left Auckland and I fell asleep in the back. But when I woke up we were outside the gas station. Me and my dad were wondering why there were lot of muscle cars. We asked someone that had parked outside the gas station and the man said because there was a beach hop so all the muscle cars go to all the beach’s in the coromandel.

When we got to the hot water beach we hired some shovels so we could dig a pit in the sand. Once we finished our sand pit the hot water came in.

When we were too hot we would go into the sea and we would cool down. Then we went down to Hahei and ate some lunch. When I finished my food I went swimming. When I was getting shellfish me and my brother saw a eagleray come towards us.

Tamaki College sports

Tamaki College, a place located in Glen Innes, and just down the road from Point England School. Tamaki college has a variety of cultures but mostly Maori and Polynesian. Some faces would appear familiar to others. That’s because some students from Tamaki college attended Point England school.

We go to Tamaki College because it gives the older students experience with younger students for other sports activities. We come down so were not stuck in the class all day. The tutors are Year 12 students that attend Tamaki College. They are teaching us P.E. skills. They help us learn about leadership  for N.C.E.A.

P.E. helps to us get fitter and it helps to train our muscles. It helps for long term health or even  we can become interested in sports or social activities.

Our experience with sports at Tamaki College is fun and can sometimes be exciting. It includes different activities like electric fence, blindfolded course (things like jumping on to things).

Cyclone poster

Screen Shot 2014-03-21 at 10.03.26 am.png
A cyclone is a big spinning collection of winds. Cyclones and hurricanes are usually named after women, thats why the cyclone was called Lusi.

New Zealand was lucky that it wasn't deadly. Cyclones in the past have been  deadly. Cyclones are a bit like tornadoes but they don’t suck things and they don’t come down to the ground but still can kill.

Cyclones are created by the winds from the southern hemisphere and  northern hemisphere come together and make a wind vortex. And it can move where the wind blows

Thank you letter

Dear Mr Alai

Thank you for giving up your time to help us at the picnic. Your help was important because if we did not have enough helpers our class would have not gone down to the beach.

There was baseball and all sorts of sports. To play baseball you will need four bases, one for the pitcher, one for base one base two and the third base. The umpire calls “batter up” and the pitcher will throw the ball and the batter now tries to hit the ball as far as he/her can. But when you hit the ball you run to the first base and if you hit it far enough you might even get a home run.

My favourite part about the picnic was making clay balls on the beach.

Thank you
From Brandon

The Duffy show

Walking to the hall I could hear the rest of the school chatting. I wondered what we were doing if I hadn't been daydreaming I would have known what we were doing. But as I was walking I saw a Duffy trailer and then I knew why we were going in to the hall. It was a Duffy show. Almost tripping over the chairs outside the hall, I then thought that it was a good idea to focus. It was so hot I wanted a mobile fan to bring everywhere I went.

I think that everyone was starting to get annoyed and angry because the show hadn't started. There was lots of moving while waiting I even saw someone getting a growling.

Duffy had a cloak on that had all sorts of books. All of a sudden I heard a yell. Duffy was reading a book, he was playing the king in the book. The book was called the king of colours. I could see that everyone was then excited that the show had started.

The 3ps

We are learning about the tree 3ps because it about Waitangi and Waitangi is tomorrow.

What are the 3ps? The 3ps are Protection, Partnership and participation. Protection, looking after one and other and also thinking ahead. It also means safety, caring and defence.

Partnership means working together. We also work together at school and some time out of school. Teamwork also relates to Partnership. Pt England works as a team to strive to succeed.

Participation, is all about giving it a shot in sports, music, and learning subject. We also partake in all the subjects. Ownership.

My wonderful Holiday

In the Holiday I went diving for Kina. The water was warm but every time the seaweed touched my legs I would almost drowned. And getting the Kina off the rocks was a lot harder. Seeing the fish swimming past almost gave me a heart attack. Eventually I got out. And then started to fish.As I was fishing I got my hooks stuck in the seaweed. Then I finally I got it out but as I was bringing it in I had a fish.

I just didn't know where to fish but I just couldn't find a good spot. It wasn't long before I got bored so I started to watch the birds fly past. But I didn't know that some other birds were taking my bait.

But sadly I had to go home the day went so fast but the best part about it was that it was the holidays.
